Oregon’s Sanctuary Law makes all of our communities safer
Former Oregon Legislator Rocky Barilla (right) ushered the passage of Oregon’s Sanctuary Law in 1987, the first in the nation. Oregon’s Sanctuary Law was passed over 38 years ago with strong support from both Republicans and Democrats to protect Oregonians from being targeted based solely on the color of their skin, their accent, or their perceived immigration status. He is pictured with Cristina Marquez, who oversaw No on 105, a campaign that successfully stopped the repeal of the law in 2018.
